In Canada, an increasing number of health care professionals are including massage therapy as part of the client's health care plan.
This is due to the thorough training and increasing standards for massage therapists. Every therapist in the New Brunswick Massotherapy Association must now complete a 2200 hour training program and a registration examination.
Cara Seeley
completed the education requirements at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax, NS in July 2000. She is now a member of both the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the New Brunswick Massotherapy Association. Cara entered this profession due to her interest in the hands on art of healing, which is massage therapy.
Lyndi Leask
graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in June 2005. She also finished her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at UNB in May of 2006. She is a member of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists.
Melissa Smith
grew up and lives in Belleisle Creek. She studied massage therapy at the Kine-Concept Institute in Fredericton. Since graduation in 2005, Melissa worked in both clinic and spa settings and has continued she education in deep tissue therapy and received her human services certificate from NBCCSJ. Melissa is also trained in myofascial release, sports massage, athletic taping, remedial exercise, geriatric, prenatal and motor vehicle injury. Melissa looks forward to meeting new clients and welcomes back previous clients.
Erin ?
originally from St. Martins, comes to us from Saint John. She
graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in March of 2006. Erin is trained in modalities of massage such as prenatal, infants, sports, motor vehicle accidents, structural myofascial therapy, deep tissue and relaxation. Erin is also an experienced doula and infant massage instructor and enjoys giving new parents the best birthing experience possible.
Although massage therapy is not covered by NB medicare, many insurance companies and employee benifit plans do have coverage.
