  • We did our bird count on December 19, 2009 in an area with a circle of 24 km diameter surrounding Sussex.

    The sky was clear and the ground was covered with snow. The water was frozen except the moving water. The temperature was between -7 and -13C and the wind was North 10km/h.

    There were 12 field observers working in 7 field parties. Two people were observing their bird feeders at home. We started at 9.00am and finished at 4.00pm. The total party-hours were 33, 11 hours on foot and 22 hours by car. The total party-km were 267, 22 km on foot and 245 km by car.

    The compilers were; John Arisz, Wilma Arisz, Garth Bishop, Jim Brown, David Hughes, Dianne McFarlane and Eldon Thorne.
