We did our bird count on December 14/2008 in an area with a circle of 24-km diameter surrounding Sussex.

The sky was mostly sunny and the ground was covered with snow and the water was frozen.

We started at 9.00 am and finished at 4.00pm.

The temperature was between -10 and -14C and the wind was north 10 km/h.

There were 11 field observers working in 7 field parties. The total party-hours were 36 hour, 4.5 hour on foot and 31.5 hour by car. The total party-km were 305 km, 15 km on foot and 290 km by car.

The compilers were: John Arisz, Wilma Arisz, Garth Bishop, Jim Brown, David Hughes, Dianne McFarlane, Eldon Thorne and Stephen Peurimaki.
