Question 1: During the ill-fated search for the Northwest Passage led by a British Expeditional Force in 1845, Sir John Franklin refered to something called "Tripe de roche". What is this?

Answer: Smooth Rock Tripe (Umbilicaria dilleni) . It has been said that Franklin's crew (the ones who didn't eat the canned goods) resorted to boiling this type of lichen for food after all other reserves were consumed.
